[Poetry] “For Grandpa: Time”

For 할아버지 & my grieving heart

I thought we had more time,
but we falsely think
Time to be kind
and generous.
But Time is cruel,
unforgiving.
If you think you have enough of it,
trust me, you do not
(I don’t know if you ever could).
So, call them,
tell them you love them,
don’t cancel dinner plans,
cut the excuses,
see them when you can,
hold them every chance you have,
and grab their hands,
because Time stops for everyone –
in that, he is fair.
We can tell ourselves
that we have more time,
but you will only come
to regret such false belief.
